About The Author

Patrick Bryan Whitcomb was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1966. He is the youngest of seven children. He moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 1985. While attending North Idaho College, he met his wife Jan. They both graduated from the University of Montana, Dillon in education. They have four children Philip, Kassie, Kattie and Matthew.

When I first started to write this story it was 1990. I was living in Kingston, Idaho. My wife and I had just finished our first year of teaching and had begun our summer vacation. I had always wanted to write a story.

What followed was a trail of eight years. At times I stayed up all night writing. Other times I would not write for months. I never thought of publishing the story until my wife Jan brought it up. I'm glad she did.
